Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) to prepare accurate tax returns, interview clients to assess financial situations, and deliver personalized recommendations. This in-person role focuses on building lasting relationships, identifying savings opportunities, and guiding clients through tax implications using industry-leading training and tools.

Qualifications

• Must pass the Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and tax implications, then provide clear recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and identify tax savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office.
