Job summary

Houston Ballet is seeking a part-time, hourly volunteer coordinator to lead recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and communication for Nutcracker Market and Nutcracker Market SPRING. You will serve as the primary contact for volunteers, coordinating with staff and committees to ensure strong coverage and a rewarding experience.

Hours vary by event calendar, with January–July around 15 hours/week and August–November around 25 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1–3 years’ experience coordinating volunteers, staff or related programs, data entry and customer service preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Shiftboard platform is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

• Interface with volunteers via email and phone, including notices via Shiftboard.
• Create and update volunteer schedules via Shiftboard.
• Facilitate volunteer screening with Human Resources.
• Liaise with partner organizations on corporate volunteer opportunities.
• Serve as main contact for general volunteers and coordinate parking passes.
• Create and update materials related to volunteer participation.
• Serve as liaison for Volunteer Engagement and Market Entry Committees onsite.
• Create volunteer schedules and track hours post-event.
• Assist with committee communication and scheduling.
• Respond to volunteer questions and concerns.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive volunteer environment.
• Ensure policy compliance; assist with prep for Market runs.
• Availability to work during Nutcracker Market at Reliant Center.
