Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to work in-person at a local tax office in Washington. You’ll meet with clients, gather information, and prepare tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.

No prior tax experience required; you’ll learn to explain tax information clearly, identify savings opportunities, and build strong client relationships while supporting office goals. Flexible hours during peak season; 15–35 hours per week, up to 40 hours when busy.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course 1.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in an understandable way.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance.
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork and a client-first approach.
