Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to join a local tax office in Illinois. You’ll gather client information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions with training and support from day one. This in-person role emphasizes building client relationships and delivering clear tax guidance.

No prior tax experience is required, and you can earn more as you build tax knowledge and performance. 15–40 hours per week are available, with evenings/weekends during peak periods.

Qualifications

• Completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to ask questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to organize information.
• Comfort using digital tools and AI-based systems.
• High school diploma or GED/equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products/services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to address questions with guidance.
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities.
