Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to join our local tax office in Illinois. You will meet with clients, gather information, prepare tax returns with training, and answer questions while building client relationships.

No prior tax experience is required; you'll receive training and support from day one and earn a competitive hourly rate with opportunities to increase earnings as you gain knowledge and perform well during tax season. This is an in-person role.

Qualifications

Completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
Experience interacting with customers in a service environment
Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations to clients
Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
Address client questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork and a client-first approach
