Job summary

City of Evanston is seeking seasonal custodial staff to perform cleaning and maintenance of park and lakefront facilities from mid-April to mid-November. Duties include restroom cleaning, litter removal, and restocking, with up to 40 hours per week and weekend/holiday shifts.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and flexibility to start in April with seasonal hours continuing through November. Training and varied site assignments are included.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High school diploma, GED or higher. Completion of some college or trade school classes is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Custodial work experience in an education or recreation environment is preferred.
• Must be willing and able to begin training in early April, with full-time hours starting in mid-April and continuing through mid-November.
• Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of custodial duties including cleaning equipment, restrooms, litter pick up, program set ups and break downs, and trash removal.
• Inspects assigned park and recreation sites and equipment regularly regarding condition, safety, and degree of use; recommends maintenance and repair if needed.
• Drives a city vehicle to and from sites to transport supplies and materials.
• Will be required to check in at various sites using city issued electronic devices.
• Submits 311 requests for identified repairs.
• Assists in the removal of graffiti in parks locations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
