City of Evanston is seeking a concession attendant for its Parks & Recreation venues. The role involves preparing and serving concession items, handling cash and card transactions, and ensuring safe, clean facilities for guests.
Ideal candidates are 15+ years old, possess or obtain Illinois Food Handler’s Certification, and can complete CPR & First Aid training within three months. Must be flexible to work mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The concession attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient food service at the City of Evanston’s Department of Parks & Recreation concession facilities. Work includes food preparation and service, customer relations, processing cash and/or credit card transactions, product inventory and maintaining a clean facility.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Food Service Program Coordinator and the Department of Parks and Recreation. Assignments can be either verbal or written, with the employee determining proper procedure and work methods and is responsible for completing the work according to City work rule and safety regulations. Work is reviewed through ongoing observation, written and verbal communication, meetings and feedback from supervisors and other department employees. Guidance is provided through rules and regulations, policies and procedures, Personnel Rules and OSHA. Work is evaluated at least once per year for the safe and skilled operation of equipment, quality of tasks, adherence to work rules, and performance in accordance with classification standards. Department Coordinators are responsible for site inspections, ongoing observations, and written and verbal communication.
The employee has contact with the general public using parks and recreation facilities. The employee may need to respond to questions and complaints and provide general direction to the public.

Chosen candidates will be required to provide proof of licenses, certifications, and education required for this position. Candidates will also be subject to qualifying pre-employment processes, including medical examination, drug/alcohol screen, employment verification, and criminal background check.
