Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Seasonal Kitchen Assistant to support chefs, engage guests, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen. The role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and delivering a top-notch dining and shopping experience.

You will help execute classes, assist with enrollment goals, and contribute to store revenue while upholding food safety standards and company SOPs. Flexible hours and team collaboration are key.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older at time of employment.
• 1 year retail sales experience, preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience, preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Stay current on products through available training and independent learning.
• Lead a customer-focused, Guest Obsessed culture in both kitchen and retail areas.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive repeat visits and positive feedback.
• Help meet class revenue goals through high enrollment, positive reviews, and guest return rates.
• Aim to consistently meet or exceed monthly sales goals and contribute to store revenue.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down classes, including mise en place, prep, and cleanup.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and equipment promptly to maintain smooth operations.
• Assist with restocking, organizing, and maintaining kitchen supplies and tools.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and local health codes.
• Handle tools, ingredients, and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate inventory, minimize shrink, and control costs.
• May handle liquor, wine, and beer per state regulations and company policy.
• Ensure store safety and cleanliness; address maintenance needs promptly.
• Adhere to wage and hour laws and SLT SOPs.
