Job summary

Mecklenburg County Government is seeking a Temporary Recreation Assistant to support outdoor events and community programs in Uptown Charlotte and other locations. The role involves light housekeeping, preparing facilities for reservations and assisting with various event duties.

The schedule may include nights, weekends and holidays depending on events and bookings. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, are comfortable working outdoors in all weather, and can provide friendly customer

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and outdoors
• Experience assisting with special events strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and handle funds in a recreation center or park facility via phone, email, website, social media and in person for information, registrations, center use and rentals
• Ensure safety of participants and administer first aid when necessary
• Prepare facility before and after scheduled reservations for events
• Visit venues to monitor events and assist with special events
• Enforce rules and regulations and collect fees for facility rentals
• Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
• Handle inquiries and complaints from the public
• Assist with department-sponsored events
