Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department at Berewick Recreation Center is hiring a Part Time Recreation Assistant. The role supports leisure programs, events and customer service, with up to 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities include assisting with after-school activities, athletics and special events, maintaining safety, and helping patrons with registrations. No experience required; a high school diploma and a valid NC/SC driver’s license with CPR/First Aid are needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: No experience required.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and CPR/First Aid.
• Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge: Recreational programming and instruction.
• Skills: Customer service, teamwork, organization.
• Abilities: Adaptability, communication, safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
• Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
• Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
• Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or line-person at games
• Assist with various recreational programs for all ages
• Handle inquiries and complaints from public
• Assist with special events and field trips
