Job summary

The Navy Yard BID is seeking a Seasonal Part-Time Events Assistant to support the BID's events and public programming. This role focuses on planning, preparation, setup, execution, and breakdown of events throughout the district, with Thursday, evening, and weekend shifts and a maximum of 15 hours per week.

The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, dependable, and comfortable in fast-paced public environments.

Qualifications

Prior experience in event production or hospitality is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills are essential.
Ability to stay calm and solution-oriented in a fast-paced event environment.

Responsibilities

Serve as on-site support for coordinating and executing BID events and activations.
Assist with event setup and breakdown including tents, tables, signage, equipment, and decor.
Help prepare sites, coordinate with the clean team, and ensure spaces are clean and ready for the public.
Be a welcoming point of contact for attendees, vendors, performers, and partners.
Communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders and respond to day-of-event needs.
Assist with vendor check-in, load-in/load-out, and event logistics.
Follow event site plans, safety procedures, and run-of-show documents.
Maintain event equipment, supplies, and inventory.
Support permitting and coordination with District agencies as directed.
Participate in prep meetings and post-event debriefs.
