Job summary

The Navy Yard BID is seeking a Seasonal Part-Time Events Assistant to support the BID’s events and public programming. This role primarily covers Thursdays, evenings, and weekends with flexible hours up to 15 per week.

Ideal candidates are energetic, organized, and customer-focused, able to work in a fast-paced public environment and engage with diverse audiences to create safe, welcoming community events.

Qualifications

• Experience in event production or operations is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer-service and interpersonal abilities.
• Calm, flexible, and solutions-oriented in fast-paced events.
• Highly organized and dependable with attention to detail.
• Comfortable engaging with the public and partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site support for coordination and execution of BID events and activations.
• Assist with event setup/breakdown including tents, signage, and equipment.
• Prepare event sites and maintain clean, accessible spaces.
• Greet attendees, vendors, and partners as a knowledgeable point of contact.
• Communicate professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Anticipate operational needs and troubleshoot during events.
• Coordinate with vendors and volunteers as directed by BID staff.
• Assist with check-in, load-in/out, deliveries, and logistics.
• Follow site plans, safety procedures, and event protocols.
• Maintain event equipment, supplies, and inventory.
• Support permitting and district agency coordination as needed.
• Participate in prep meetings and post-event debriefs.
• Document attendance and event observations for records.
• Update checklists, call sheets, and site plans.
• Represent the Navy Yard BID in a professional, friendly manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
