The California Department of Justice is seeking a Seasonal Clerk to support the Bureau of Firearms in Sacramento. The role handles routine data entry, filing, mail processing, and basic background checks under supervision, contributing to smooth unit operations.

The position is non-tenured, intermittent, in-office, with a standard day shift, Monday–Friday, and salary in the $3,167.00–$3,570.00 range. Training is provided and potential for cross-unit work exists.

Responsibilities

• Enter, modify, update, and verify data from Firearms reports and applications; identify errors and omissions; with supervision, take action to resolve.
• Scan report forms for completeness; assist with clearing dispositions (phone calls, faxing, letters, etc.) and conduct background checks.
• Prepare files and labels; file completed documents/applications for units; draft form letters; open and distribute mail; assist in unit mail outs; answer telephones.
