Job summary

Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is seeking a Seasonal CDL Operator (Equipment Operator 1G) to support road and storm drain maintenance for the Spring Storm Season. The role entails operating light equipment and assisting with construction, with assignments given by a supervisor and adherence to safety procedures.

This temporary position is limited to 1000 working hours and does not include county benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating light power equipment.
• Valid CDL with mandatory endorsements required upon appointment.
• Candidate must successfully complete equipment/vehicle performance testing.
• Must have a DOT medical exam.

Responsibilities

• Operate light equipment and motor vehicles safely for road construction and maintenance tasks.
• Perform routine upkeep and assist in preventive maintenance.
• Maintain daily work logs and reports.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Assist with setting up work-sites and traffic control as required.
