Job summary

The Virginia Department of Transportation seeks seasonal field staff to support snow removal and storm response operations. Duties include operating heavy equipment, performing manual labor, and standing by for call-in assignments during winter weather.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, backhoe, skid steer, and tractors.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must possess CDL and DOT medical card.
• Safety shoes required.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways.
• Manual labor including installing tire chains, plow blades, and debris removal.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment used to clear roadways.
• Respond to emergencies during weather events.
