Job summary

Nutrien in the United States is seeking a dedicated Chemical Hazard and SDS Specialist to assess product classifications and author SDS documents.

This role supports regulatory compliance (EPA, SARA, IARC, Prop 65) and maintains weight-of-evidence files while collaborating with R&D and QA teams. Travel is 0-10%. Bachelor’s in chemistry or related field with 3+ years of experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Agriculture, or related field is required.
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience in product hazard classifications and SDS authoring using authoring software is essential.
• Ability to interpret technical data and apply weight of evidence decision making to arrive at sound and defensible classification decisions.
• Travel requirements: 0 - 10%.

Responsibilities

• Assess chemical hazard classifications of products per GHS and country-specific requirements.
• Author and maintain SDS documents using SDS generation software.
• Ensure required designations and warning statements (EPA, SARA, IARC, Proposition 65) are present on SDS.
• Interpret lab reports and follow up on findings.
• Develop and maintain classification weight-of-evidence files.
• Monitor regulatory changes for North America and update SDSs accordingly.
• Gather product information and supporting files for classifications.
• Collaborate with R&D to validate key reaction products.
