Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (Contract) to build advanced test automation across UI, API, and backend systems. You will collaborate with engineers, product owners, and designers to ensure high-quality PlayStation experiences for millions of users.

The role emphasizes designing scalable automation, improving testing practices, and enabling rapid, reliable releases within a fast-paced agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 5+ years of software testing, including test plans and test cases.
• 3+ years building automated tests for web, mobile, APIs, and backend services.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Strong experience testing REST APIs, service-oriented architectures, and contract testing (Pact).
• Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and service-to-service testing.
• Experience with Selenium and Appium.
• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, GraphQL, gRPC).
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Docker, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test strategies, plans, and cases across UI, API, and backend systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to define test coverage and quality goals early.
• Build, maintain, and scale automation frameworks for UI, API, service-level, and end-to-end testing.
• Design and build testing infrastructure to enable automated service validation.
• Improve quality practices by introducing standards, tools, and processes across teams.
• Develop reusable test utilities, APIs, and libraries for automation efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks for scalability and performance.
• Partner with infra teams to design and optimize CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
• Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive timely resolution.
• Support release readiness by validating features and assessing quality risks.
• Advocate for shift-left testing throughout the lifecycle.
