Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (Contract) to design and implement automated tests across UI, API, and backend services, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality PlayStation experiences.

You will build and maintain robust automation frameworks (Python, Selenium, Appium), optimize CI/CD pipelines, and promote shift-left quality practices throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Eng, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in software testing, including test plan design and execution.
• 3+ years building automated tests for web, mobile, APIs, and backend services.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Strong experience testing REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with contract testing frameworks such as Pact or similar.
• Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and service-to-service testing.
• Experience with Selenium and Appium for automation.
• Experience with Postman, REST Assured, GraphQL, gRPC.
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Docker and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans, and cases across UI, API, and backend systems.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to define test coverage and quality goals early.
• Build, maintain, and scale robust automation frameworks for UI, API, service-level, and end-to-end testing.
• Design and build testing infrastructure to enable automated service validation and backend testing.
• Improve quality practices by introducing new standards, tools, and processes across teams.
• Develop reusable test utilities, APIs, and libraries to improve efficiency and consistency in automation.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks (Python, Selenium, etc.) for scalability and performance.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
• Analyze test results, identify root causes, and work with development teams to resolve defects.
• Support release readiness by validating features and assessing quality risks.
• Advocate for shift-left testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
