Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Herndon, VA seeks a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services for air-gapped regions. You will own features end-to-end, deploy through disconnected pipelines, and operate in production, including on-call support.

The role involves working on monitoring, capacity tooling, and cross-team collaboration to deliver secure cloud infrastructure for government customers. A TS/SCI clearance sponsorship is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or CSSLP required.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
• Experience programming in at least one language.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services, fleet health automation, and capacity tooling across air-gapped cloud environments.
• Own features end-to-end: design, implement, test, deploy through pipelines, and operate in production including on-call.
• Improve monitoring, alarms, and deployment safety; drive fixes for operational issues.
• Collaborate with partner teams and stakeholders across air-gapped partitions to deliver shared infrastructure.
• Participate in design and code reviews; help new engineers ramp up on the systems.
• Leverage AI tools to improve automation, code quality, and productivity.
