Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services in air-gapped regions.

You will own features end-to-end, drive improvements, and work across teams to deliver secure cloud infrastructure for government workloads. The role requires building in isolated environments, contributing to capacity automation, and using AI to boost automation and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or CSSLP certification.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on large-scale systems.
• Experience programming in at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services and capacity tooling across air-gapped environments.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production, including on-call duties.
• Improve monitoring, alarming, and deployment safety for owned services.
• Collaborate with partner teams across air-gapped partitions to deliver shared infrastructure.
• Participate in design and code reviews and mentor new engineers.
• Apply AI tooling to improve automation, code quality, and productivity.
