Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services in air-gapped regions. You will join a team responsible for EC2 control plane, fleet health, and capacity tooling, providing secure infrastructure for government customers.

You will develop features end-to-end, write tools for automation, and participate in on-call production support, designing resilient, scalable systems in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
• Experience programming in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
• Experience with automation tools (building, testing, releasing, monitoring)
• Experience in networking, storage, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate EC2 control-plane services, fleet health automation, and capacity tooling across air-gapped cloud environments.
• Own features end to end from design to production, including code, tests, and deployment pipelines.
• Improve monitoring, alarming, and deployment safety for owned services and drive fixes for operational issues.
• Collaborate with partner teams and stakeholders across air-gapped partitions to deliver shared infrastructure.
• Engage in design and code reviews; use AI tools to improve automation and code quality.
