Job summary

WEX, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Software Development Engineer 2 focused on Data Engineering & Data Architecture to own data pipelines and modeling powering the Customer Data Platform.

You will partner with engineering, analytics, product and business teams to reconcile logic and drive a single source of truth, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to AI-augmented workflows.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in data engineering, data warehousing, or a software development engineering role focusing on data.
• Snowflake proficiency with scalable data models and staging environments.
• dbt project management, testing, documentation, and source-control-driven data pipelines.
• Preferred experience with Salesforce Data360 / DataCloud ingestion, mapping, and orchestration patterns.
• CI/CD and DevOps: automation, branches, and data quality gates.
• Problem-solving: translate business constraints into concrete data rules.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust data models in Snowflake using dbt.
• Integrate data from multiple complex source systems into the CDP.
• Own feature-level architecture decisions and ADRs.
• Mentor Level 1 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Develop automated data quality checks and AI-augmented workflows.
