Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for Region Reliability Engineering, based in Denver, CO. You will own features for internal AWS tools, guiding them from concept to deployment while mentoring teammates and improving developer productivity.

You will tackle difficult technical problems across distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, participating in design reviews and cross-functional collaboration. A TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required to start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deliver features end-to-end for internal AWS tools and services, owning work from technical design through deployment and ongoing operational support
• Solve difficult technical problems across the development stack, evaluating multiple implementation approaches and making sound trade-offs
• Provide meaningful code review feedback to teammates, including more senior engineers, raising the bar on code quality, testing practices, and engineering standards
• Identify and advocate for improvements to developer productivity, operational excellence, and team processes
• Mentor newer engineers through constructive code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate cross-functionally throughout the software development lifecycle, contributing to design reviews, documentation, and stakeholder communication while resolving technical disagreements
