Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Managed AWS Global Expansion team. You will help build scalable tooling to deploy EC2 in new Regions and Availability Zones, shaping the foundation of the cloud at scale and interfacing with a broad set of AWS services.

This role emphasizes balance, on-call responsibility, mentorship, and career growth, with a focus on reliability, code quality, and thoughtful architecture for large distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for large systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related role.
• 1+ years designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services, using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain large-scale distributed software for EC2 expansion tooling.
• Participate in on-call rotation and fault-tolerant system design.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.
