Job summary

Nassal, The Nassal Company in Orlando, FL, seeks a Sculptor to create themed environments, props, and architectural features through sculpting, fabrication, and finishing. Translate concepts into durable, production-ready elements while collaborating with designers and technicians.

You should have 3–5 years of professional sculpting experience, strong knowledge of textures and coatings, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional sculpting experience required.
  • Knowledge of clay, plaster, textures, coatings, and epoxy textures is required.
  • Experience with foam, fiberglass, epoxy, silicone, and scenic fabrication materials preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and artistic references.
  • Strong understanding of themed entertainment, scenic fabrication, props, environments, and architectural features preferred.
  • Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly creative environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing skill development and artistic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.
  • Sculpt foam, clay, plaster, epoxy, and mixed-media materials into three-dimensional themed elements.
  • Create textures, details, and specialty finishes that replicate stone, wood, metal, architectural surfaces, and natural environments.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, renderings, artistic references, and design concepts.
  • Fabricate and finish props, facades, scenic components, and custom themed features.
  • Apply coatings, epoxy textures, and scenic finishing systems to support final artistic intent.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, mold makers, scenic artists, and cast technicians.
  • Inspect work for accuracy, quality, consistency, and adherence to design standards.
  • Safely use carving, cutting, sanding, sculpting, and finishing tools.
  • Support department schedules and production deadlines.
  • Assist with mentoring junior sculptors and developing department craftsmanship standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Sculptor is responsible for creating themed environments, scenic elements, props, architectural features, attraction components, and immersive entertainment experiences through sculpting, fabrication, and finishing techniques.

This position combines artistic talent with fabrication expertise to transform design concepts into durable, production-ready themed elements.

The Sculpt Department works extensively with foam, clay, epoxy, fiberglass, coating systems, and scenic finishes to create imaginative environments for themed entertainment projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Fabrication environment with exposure to dust, noise, and odors.
  • Regular use of PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, and gloves is required.
  • May be required to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends based on project schedules.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift, sand, mask, and move materials up to 30 lbs. as needed.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely use tools and materials.
  • Must maintain continuous awareness of hazards and enforce safety practices.
