Job summary

The Nassal Company is seeking a Carpenter Lead to support the Carpentry Foreman by coordinating production on the shop floor and leading cabinet-grade carpentry projects from shop drawings. You will help ensure safety, quality, and timely handoffs across shifts while mentoring a team of carpenters.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, generating cut lists and CNC files, coordinating materials and manpower for Friday and second-shift coverage, and maintaining QA/QC throughout fabrication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of woodworking experience and management experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage 10+ employees preferred.
  • Cabinet-grade carpentry ability required.
  • Ability to read blueprints/shop drawings required.
  • Ability to produce material takeoffs, CNC cut-files, layouts, and cut lists.
  • Knowledge of various wood species required.
  • Advanced knowledge of hand tools and woodworking machinery required.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and use measurement tools.
  • Must be available for Friday coverage and second-shift coverage.
  • Ability to document production activity and communicate shift handoff details.

  • Provide Friday coverage and second-shift coverage to support production continuity, staffing needs, quality expectations, and work-order progress.
  • Lead carpenters in building cabinetry and other woodworking-related projects according to shop drawings.
  • Manage QA/QC through the construction process.
  • Review blueprints, shop drawings, layouts, cut lists, and work instructions with assigned team members.
  • Produce material takeoffs, layouts, cut lists, and CNC cut files as needed.
  • Complete takeoffs and order materials needed for production.
  • Communicate efficiently with other departments.
  • Support production by coordinating manpower, materials, sequencing, and work-area organization for assigned coverage periods.
  • Mentor carpenters and reinforce cabinet-grade quality, safe work practices, and proper tool/machine use.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed work for fit, finish, accuracy, and adherence to shop drawings.
  • Escalate schedule, staffing, material, safety, equipment, or quality concerns to the Carpentry Foreman.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Carpenter Lead supports the Carpentry Foreman by assisting with daily shop-floor activities, coordinating production work, supporting QA/QC through the construction process, and helping maintain safe, efficient workflow during Friday and second-shift coverage needs.

This role provides hands-on cabinet-grade carpentry leadership, supports continuity between shifts, and helps ensure work is completed according to shop drawings, production requirements, safety expectations, and quality standards, communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.

  • Communication: Communicates efficiently with other departments.
  • Planning: Supports layouts, cut lists, material takeoffs, CNC cut files, and production sequencing.
  • Dependability: Maintains coverage needs, punctuality, and production handoff expectations.
  • Safety Awareness: Reinforces PPE, shop procedures, and safe equipment operation.
  • Dependability: Maintains production continuity and shift handoff discipline.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Fabrication environment with exposure to dust, noise, and odors.
  • Regular use of PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, and gloves is required.
  • Schedule includes Friday coverage and second-shift coverage, with extended hours or weekends as needed based on production requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift, sand, mask, and move materials up to 30 lbs. as needed.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely use tools and materials.
  • Must maintain continuous awareness of hazards and enforce safety practices.
