Position Title: Scrum Master - Agile Coach
Location: Remote with some travel to Atlanta, GA 30308
Duration: 12+ months contract
May need to travel to the office at own cost for a group meeting if required
Position Summary
Under minimal direction, Norfolk Southern’s Agile Coach will assist our teams and the organization deliver new and exciting capabilities to our customers. Working with multiple development teams, this role will ensure the consistent use of the Scrum and Scaled Agile Delivery methodologies to achieve the benefits of iterative and incremental software releases. The Agile Coach is responsible for the strategic and practical applications, review and training of Agile methods within the organization. This role will be responsible for identifying and making recommendations to improve overall organizational and business agility and defining new processes as necessary.
Experience
6-8 years of experience in IT, with minimum of 3 years leading agile teams in the use of Scrum Methodologies
Significant experience (3+ years) with SAP development work, specifically ECC to S/4- MM, SCM, PM, WM, FI, P2P, SuccessFactors
Experience training, coaching and implementing SAFe methodologies
Experience working in Enterprise Agile organizations
Experience Coaching, Guiding And Leading Others
Experience in process improvement and process documentation
1-2 years of experience in servant leadership role
Proven ability to advocate for organizational agility, provide recommendations and influence at all levels.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Trains new teams in agile methodology & practice and mentors team members in their individual roles and responsibilities including Product Owner, Scrum Master, team members and people leaders.
Facilitates discussions and resolutions regarding misalignment and conflict as needed.
Able to organize and facilitate each phase of various team’s sprints including daily standup, backlog refinement, demo, retrospective, and release planning.
Maintains and communicates metrics related to team performance.
Represents the teams in planning and status meetings and track and identify dependencies while removing any impediments.
Focuses on helping teams meet commitments through development and implementation of lean processes and practices.
Excels at communication and collaboration to move passion and guidance into high performing teams.
Remains flexible to move quickly on ideas and maintains ability to pivot and move in new directions as conditions present themselves.
Continually drives to improve and contribute to business processes and culture to rapidly deliver results. Enthusiastically manages, monitors and develops team through continuous training, implementation and practice.
Develops purpose-built, agile practices using knowledge of various frameworks and techniques while recognizing differing environments.
Encourages teams to collaborate, take ownership, be transparent and continually strive for improvement.
Identifies gaps and opportunities in team and enterprise value stream and makes recommendations to improve.
Education, License Or Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/technical area or related field preferred
