Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ seeks a Surgical Scrub Tech to assist nursing personnel in the Operating Room and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include instrument checks, assisting with room setup, and passing instruments to the surgical team. Requires relevant surgical tech training, certification, and BLS; hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology or related field preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program required.
• Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA required.
• BLS required.
• 1–2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties and responsibilities of a scrub person under the direction of a registered, professional nurse.
• Checks and gathers all instruments for each case in assigned room with use of surgeon's preference card.
• Checks sterility tapes, dates and integrity of wrappers.
• Assists circulating nurse in obtaining supplies, equipment and opening of room, as necessary.
• Opens sterile supplies for assigned cases; performs surgical scrub technique and gown and glove procedure for self and surgical team; maintains a sterile field.
