Job summary

Axle is seeking a Scientist to join the NIH NICHD team in Bethesda, MD. The role involves planning and executing research experiments, including protein assays, DNA cloning, and mouse model work, with mentoring responsibilities for junior researchers.

The candidate will oversee complex projects, work on cell biology and biochemistry techniques, and contribute to reports and manuscripts. A Master's in Biology/Life Sciences and Genetics background are required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience as lead investigator on research projects.
  • Field of study: Genetics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform protein assays by Western Blotting to detect protein expression.
  • Transfection experiments with plasmids/retroviruses into cells.
  • DNA cloning and constructs for gene expression/targeting in ES cells.
  • Support planning and execution of laboratory research programs.
  • Phenotyping of mutant mice by multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Conduct protein function assays on thymocytes and T cells.
  • Maintain mouse colonies and assist with genotyping by PCR.
  • Prepare media, buffers, and reagents; train staff as needed.
  • Mentor post-baccalaureate fellows and assist post-docs.
  • Analyze and summarize data; present results in reports/manuscripts.
