Job summary

CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL (CREC) seeks a CT Teacher Residency Program Developer for Science to design and review the middle grades science pathway, aligning coursework and classroom experiences under mentor guidance. The role supports a post-baccalaureate alternate route to teaching certification, with a residency lasting a full school year and guiding graduates to jobs in partner districts.

The TRP Program Developer will shape courses with equity in mind, integrate literacy and math,

Qualifications

Masters Degree is required.
Experience working with K-12 science programs.
Experience teaching integrated science across life, physical, Earth and space sciences.
NGSS expertise and training.
University/College level teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Attend collaborative meetings with program personnel and specialists.
Conduct a needs assessment, researching best practices and determining the direction of the certification pathway.
Provide updates, guidance, and suggestions to program leadership.
Assist in program development using current research, best practices, and alignment to CAEP and other relevant standards (including NGSS-aligned instructional approaches).
Identify opportunities to integrate literacy, mathematics, educational technology, and culturally responsive teaching into science educator preparation.
Develop programming with an equity focus aligned with CT TRP mission, including anti-racist and social justice lenses.
Apply adult learning principles and best practices.
