Job summary

Elevate Charter Schools in New Haven, CT seeks a committed Resident Teacher to join our BTWA Elementary School community. This full-time residency role supports instruction, co-teaching, and gradual leadership as you build classroom skills.

You will work with mentor teachers, participate in coaching, and pursue RELAY certification, with a structured pathway toward lead teaching within our ECS-BTWA network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Connecticut substitute teaching certification eligibility or eligibility upon hire.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with middle school scholars in urban/high-need environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver standards-aligned lessons and adapt in real time to meet scholar needs.
• Lead small-group interventions and pull-out sessions to reinforce grade-level skills.
• Establish consistent routines and restorative approaches to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with mentor teachers and content-area specialists; participate in weekly PLCs and coaching cycles.
