The program offers focused coaching, collaboration within a cohort, and eventual priority placement as a lead teacher at a Friendship PCS campus or partner school.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree completed (STEM major or coursework strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching, education, and equity.
  • Experience working with youth (tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or after-school programs) preferred.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and openness to coaching and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Co-plan and co-deliver STEM lessons under mentor guidance.
  • Lead small groups, tutoring, or lab demonstrations.
  • Use the Danielson Framework to strengthen pedagogy.
  • Participate in observations, professional development, and external site visits.
  • Receive ongoing coaching to apply best practices in instruction.
  • Transition gradually to lead teaching responsibilities.
  • Build relationships to foster engagement in STEM.
  • Maintain a structured, joyful learning environment.
  • Incorporate hands-on, inquiry-based strategies and technology.
  • Engage in individualized coaching focused on student outcomes.
  • Join residency cohort to collaborate and share best practices.
  • Upon completion, priority placement for lead teaching.
