Qualifications

• Must demonstrate leadership and ability to relate to staff and administrators.
• Have completed the four mentor training days or be willing to attend.
• Be a current faculty member in the same assignment area as the beginning teachers.
• Teach near the same grade level or certification area when possible.
• Knowledge of current educational trends and research is required.
• Familiarity with school and county policies is expected.
• Minimum of three years of successful full-time teaching experience in Mineral County Schools.

Responsibilities

• Provides an orientation program for new teachers in the first month.
• Builds relationships to foster trust and collaboration with new teachers.
• Participates in weekly meetings to discuss concerns of new teachers.
• Models professionalism and expected behaviors at all times.
• Supports and counsels new teachers; performs mentor duties as assigned by the principal.
