Job summary

Berkeley County Schools in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a School Based Mentor for the upcoming school year. This extra duty assignment carries a stipend of $800 and reports to the Principal or Assistant Principal.

The position is temporary and designed to support both new and veteran teachers within the district. Responsibilities include mentoring two mentees, conducting at least 20 check-ins annually, documenting meetings, completing WVDE mentoring training, and collaborating with administrators

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate.
• Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
• Documented record of successful performance evaluations for the past three consecutive years of employment.
• Current employment status with Berkeley County Schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support to certified and non-certified teachers who are new to the profession (1-3 years) and educators who are new to Berkeley County Schools.
• Mentor two mentees; conduct 20 check-in meetings per school year.
• Maintain documentation of all meetings.
• Complete the 2-day WVDE Foundations of Mentoring training within the active school year.
• Collaborate with administration and county-based Academic Instructional Mentor for support.
• Model professionalism and maintain confidentiality.
• Be available for commitments beyond the instructional day when necessary.
• Participate in assigned sessions to stay current with county initiatives.
