Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a Dispatcher to manage daily driver assignments, route coverage, and communications. You will guide drivers with routing directions, respond to emergencies, and coordinate vehicle maintenance to ensure reliable service.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to read maps, and experience with routing software. Bi-lingual abilities are a plus in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Dispatch experience preferred.
• Strong routing and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication with drivers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Directs and monitors daily assignments; schedules drivers and vehicles for routes, field trips and charter work.
• Communicates route details to drivers to ensure proper execution.
• Assist drivers with routing directions and special services when required.
• Responds to emergency calls and coordinates repairs; assigns replacement buses and drivers.
• Maintains route documents and records for state requirements and customer information.
• Coordinates vehicle service with Maintenance to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
• Handles customer concerns professionally and escalates issues to management when needed.
• Maintains dispatch SOP compliance.
