Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in Augusta, GA is recruiting a School Resource Officer for Augusta RYDC. Under supervision, you will maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting while upholding professional law enforcement standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with Georgia POST training; preferred candidates may have a related degree and POST certification. The position includes a day shift and competitive compensation with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with POST basic mandate training.
• GA POST basic mandate training is required.
• Preferred: undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related field.
• Current GA POST Peace Officer certification is required or preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform law enforcement duties to maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas and during breaks.
• Regularly conduct walkthroughs of classrooms, hallways and offices.
• Address disruptive, improperly dressed, late or absent students.
• Facilitate safety drills as required by GA Preparatory Academy.
• Inspect areas for contraband and safety breaches after movements.
• Monitor security equipment and cameras and report issues promptly.
• Meet with supervisors and staff to coordinate student involvement and meetings.

Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training

Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice / Public Administration / Sociology (preferred)

Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certification
