Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in Savannah, GA, is seeking a School Resource Officer for the Savannah RYDC to maintain security and order within a detention facility educational setting.

Under supervision, you will perform full law enforcement duties, provide student security, conduct safety drills, and coordinate meetings with education staff and parents. Requires GA POST certification and adherence to agency policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED with Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• Preferred: Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Sociology or related field.
• One year+ experience as a School Resource Officer; three years as a Peace Officer with POST certification.
• Two+ years supervisory experience in police/investigative work.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of law enforcement duties to maintain security in a detention facility educational setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas.
• Conduct classroom and hallway walkthroughs and address disruptive behavior.
• Facilitate safety drills and monitor areas for contraband or safety breaches.
• Coordinate weekly student meetings with staff and monthly parent meetings.
