Job summary

State of Georgia seeks a School Resource Officer for the Augusta YDC in Augusta, GA. The role requires GA P.O.S.T. certification and a high school diploma or GED, with preference for a related degree and Peace Officer experience.

You will patrol, screen, and supervise youth in a secure educational setting while coordinating with education and probation staff. The position includes responsibilities for safety drills, classroom security, and parent meetings, with a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and successful completion of GA P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• Preferred: undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Sociology or related field.
• Three years of experience as a Peace Officer and POST certification; supervisory experience in police/investigative work.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of law enforcement duties to maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas.
• Conduct walkthroughs of classrooms, hallways, and offices; address disruptive or improperly dressed students.
• Facilitate safety drills and monitor security equipment; assist in coordinating meetings with staff and parents.
