Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a School Resource Officer for Augusta, GA, to maintain security and order within a detention facility in an educational setting. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalence and successful completion of GA P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.

Responsibilities

• Performs law enforcement duties to maintain security and order in a detention facility education setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering the secure area of the building and during breaks.
• Regularly conduct walkthroughs of classrooms, hallways and school offices.
• Address students who are disruptive, inappropriately dressed, late or absent.
• Facilitates safety drills as required by the Georgia Preparatory Academy.
• Inspect areas frequented by youth for contraband or safety breaches after movements.
