Job summary

Mokena School District 159 is seeking a Paraprofessional to support students with instructional, physical, social-emotional, and behavioral needs throughout the school day.

Responsibilities include implementing curriculum under supervision, maintaining records, and assisting with health-related tasks to ensure a safe learning environment. Strong communication and computer skills are required and CPI certification may be needed for special education assignments.

Qualifications

• Valid Educator License with Stipulations (ELS); endorsed as a Paraprofessional Educator from the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Friendly and professional demeanor with discretion regarding students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing curriculum aligned with Individual Education Plans (IEP) or language needs under supervision.
• Maintain data records as directed by the teacher.
• Modify learning environment to accommodate unique student needs.
• Communicate any behavioral or response changes to the supervising teacher.
• Assist students with health-related or hygienic procedures to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support inclusion of students in regular programs under guidance of teachers.
