Job summary

Central Intermediate School is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist teachers in day-to-day classroom activities and to support students with academics and social-emotional learning. The role may involve one-on-one, small group, or classroom assistance under guidance from licensed staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a current paraprofessional license (or PEL) with ISBE, CPI training, and successful background screenings. Expect 9 months of school-year work with hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Paraprofessional license (or PEL) with ISBE required.
• CPI certification required.
• Fingerprint-based background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical.
• Additional district screenings and clearances may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with classroom setup and materials.
• Provide individual and small group instruction under teacher direction.
• Administer and record assessments and progress as directed.
• Support student organizational and study skills development.
• Implement behavior plans per IEP and monitor student progress.
• Supervise students during drills, field trips, and unstructured times.
• Communicate with staff regarding student needs and concerns.
