Job summary

The Middlebury College Summer Hebrew School on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont seeks a Drama Instructor to lead theatre activities and teach drama through Hebrew immersion during the 2018 session.

Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, guiding rehearsals, coordinating performances, and supporting a culturally immersive learning environment for students while reading, writing, and speaking Hebrew throughout the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts or equivalent training.
• Experience teaching drama to groups of students.

The Middlebury College Summer Hebrew School is pleased to announcea vacancy for a temporary Drama Instructor. The position isavailable during the summer 2018 session, located on MiddleburyCollege campus in Vermont. Our unique programs combine a culturalimmersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction.This is an opportunity to join a community of learners, by activelyengaging in teaching, dining, residing, and recreating withstudents while reading, writing, and speaking exclusively inHebrew.

Our school is looking for a Drama Instructor who is passionateabout helping students learn drama and who loves to lead studentsthrough exercises that will improve their skills. The successfulcandidate can speak Hebrew as a foreign language, being native ornear native in Hebrew and the ability to leadco-curricular activities.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Create lesson plans; teach students about plays and the historyof drama.
• Instruct lessons in Hebrew.
• Assisting students in creating their own dramatic pieces,organizing, and managing the learning environment, directingperformance rehearsals, helping to assemble and manage lighting andsets. .
• Coordinate performances with students and for the School ofHebrew.
• Completing all contact hours assigned.
• Attend school specific, all school events, meals, and otherspecified activities.
• Work cooperatively with others and accept direction fromsupervisor.
• Other duties are performed as assigned.

In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Arts in PerformingArts, or completed four years of courses in acting, voice, thehistory of theater, set and lighting design, play direction, anddrama theory and criticism.
