Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a Nutrition Services Manager to lead and develop staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant food service operations across programs such as National School Lunch and Breakfast, catering, and summer meals.

Responsibilities include overseeing menus, HACCP, training, maintaining records, coordinating with security and warehouse, and preparing state reimbursement documents; requires bachelor's in a related field and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated comparable experience required.
• Three years of food service experience with child nutrition programs required.
• Supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop nutrition services personnel through orientation, training, evaluation, and progressive discipline as needed.
• Ensure compliance with nutritional, health, safety, and certification standards for all programs.
• Conduct site visits to ensure menus, recipes, HACCP, and safety standards are followed; guide workflow improvements.
• Monitor meal input records, deposits, and reporting; resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Manage staff schedules to cover meal periods and special events, including catering.
• Serve as primary contact for off-hours nutrition issues; coordinate with security and warehouse.
• Oversee staff training and workshops on program requirements, food prep, sanitation, and POS reporting.
• Prepare documentation for state reimbursement claims; assist with other reimbursements.
• Assist with inventory orders for JIT deliveries to schools.
• Develop and maintain communications tools and documentation for staff (SharePoint, newsletters, SOPs).
• Represent the district at School Nutrition Association conferences annually.
