Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Shawnee Mission, KS for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time Building Nurse role supports a local K-12 district with nursing services.

You will provide direct student care, manage chronic conditions, verify orders, and mentor staff on emergency protocols while collaborating with families and school teams to help students succeed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Kansas.
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program.
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of nurse delegation practices and state scope-of-practice regulations.
• Ability to work independently and exercise clinical judgment.
• Experience working with a pediatric population.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and manage everyday illnesses.
• Monitor students with chronic conditions and manage medications per orders.
• Verify medical orders and safely administer medications.
• Lead responder to medical emergencies on campus.
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment use.
• Develop and update IHPs, IEPs, and 504 Plans as needed.
• Collaborate with parents and school staff regarding medical needs.
• Conduct health screenings.
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks per state regulations.

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Shawnee Mission, KS for the2026-2027 school year! This is a full-time Building Nurse role supporting a local K-12 district with nursing services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Active RN license valid in Kansas
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Knowledge of nurse delegation practices and state scope-of-practice regulations
• Ability to work independently and exercise clinical judgment
• Experience working with a pediatric population
• Trach/vent management, Seizure management - competent with seizure action plans and rescue medications, Tube feedings, Pediatric diabetic care, Oxygen and airway management, Medication administration, Catheterization

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Provide first aid and manage everyday illnesses (headaches, stomachaches, injuries)
• Monitor students with chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies, mental health conditions) and implement routine and PRN medications and care per orders
• Verify medical orders, document medication administration, and safely administer routine and PRN medications
• Act as the lead responder to medical emergencies on campus
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment use
• Develop and update IHPs (Individualized Healthcare Plans), IEPs (Individualized Education Plans), and 504 Plans related to medical conditions; participate in meetings as needed
• Collaborate with parents and school staff regarding students with medical needs
• Conduct or assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, growth/BMI, blood pressure)
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks in accordance with state regulations

COMPENSATION: $35-$37/hr * W-2 Contract * Shawnee Mission, KS
