Job summary

TactStaff EDU in Maryland is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide full-time nursing coverage for high school students with complex medical needs in a school setting.

The RN will ride the school bus with the assigned student(s) to and from home and school, deliver direct nursing care, monitor conditions, and collaborate with staff and families.

This position offers steady hours, classroom and transportation responsibilities, and opportunities to extend into ESY, contingent on need.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maryland.
• Current nursing credentials required for school-based practice.
• Experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
• Pediatric, school nursing, special education, or complex-care experience is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to ride the school bus with assigned student(s).
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to provide safe, dependable, and compassionate care in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for assigned high school student(s) with medical needs.
• Ride the bus with student(s) and supervise nursing care during transport.
• Provide nursing support throughout the school day as needed.
• Monitor medical status and respond to changes.
• Follow healthcare plans and physician orders as applicable.
• Administer medications and perform nursing procedures per policy.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and communicate with staff/families.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, families, and care team.
• Follow school/district/state health and safety requirements.
• Ensure student safety and compassionate care during school and transport.

Job description

TactStaff EDU is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide full-time nursing support for high school students with complex medical needs in a Maryland school setting. This position will provide dedicated nursing coverage for students who require a full-time nurse throughout the school day and during transportation to and from school.

The RN will be responsible for riding the school bus with assigned student(s) to and from their home and school, providing nursing support during transportation, as well as supporting a student who requires nursing care while at school.

Additional position details and student-specific medical information will be provided to qualified and interested applicants.

• Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Setting: School-Based / High School
• Location: Maryland
• Schedule: Full-time, approximately 37 hours per week
• Start Date: ASAP
• End Date: Through the end of the 2026–2027 school year
• Potential Extension: Opportunity may extend into Extended School Year (ESY)
• Student Population: High school students with medical needs
• Transportation: RN will be required to ride the school bus with assigned student(s) to and from home and school

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and support to assigned high school student(s) with medical needs
• Ride the school bus with student(s) between home and school and provide appropriate nursing supervision and care during transportation
• Provide nursing support throughout the school day as required
• Monitor students' medical status and respond appropriately to changes or medical needs
• Follow student-specific healthcare plans and physician orders as applicable
• Administer medications and perform nursing procedures within the scope of practice and school/district requirements
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and communicate relevant information with school staff and families
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, related service providers, families, and other members of the student's care team
• Follow all applicable school, district, state, and TactStaff EDU health and safety requirements
• Maintain student safety and provide consistent, compassionate care throughout the school day and transportation

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Current nursing credentials required for school-based practice
• Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
• Pediatric, school nursing, special education, medically fragile, or complex-care experience is a plus
• Ability and willingness to ride the school bus with assigned student(s) to and from school
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
• Ability to provide safe, dependable, and compassionate care in a school environment
