Qualifications

• NC K-12 School Library Media Coordinator 076 certification
• Master's Degree in School Library Information Science
• Previous teaching experience preferred
• Experience in providing information literacy support services in an educational setting
• Experience in developing instructional materials for adult learners and presenting staff development both live and online
• Knowledge of contemporary instructional technology trends and issues
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assesses learning and information needs of students and staff
• Plans and works with teachers
• Instructs students and staff in information literacy
• Incorporates information literacy into instruction
• Advocates and promotes reading and lifelong learning
• Leads use of instructional technology to enhance learning
• Keeps professional knowledge up to date
• Collaborates with Technology Facilitator on digital citizenship and literacy
• Provides flexible access to library resources
• Creates an environment conducive to learning
• Encourages use of print and electronic resources
• Leads resource selection and evaluation for curricular needs
• Keeps inventories of materials and equipment
• Shares resources with other libraries
• Implements collection development with committees
• Adheres to copyright and laws
• Advocates intellectual freedom and ethical behavior
• Designs long-range plans balancing teaching, tech, and collection
• Evaluates the library program against quality standards
• Organizes facilities and resources to maximize access
• Leads budget process for equity of access
• Leads or participates on School Leadership Team
• Interacts with students, staff, administration and public
• Maintains integrity and submits reports
• Performs non-instructional duties as assigned
• Complies with policies and procedures
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor

Education

North Carolina K-12 School Library Media Coordinator 076 certification

Master's Degree in School Library Information Science
