Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a qualified School Library Media Coordinator to provide leadership, professional development, and instructional resources for a comprehensive library media program tied to the NC Standard Course of Study.

You will model and coach teachers in inquiry, digital citizenship, and research, plan PD, manage resources, and collaborate with leadership to improve literacy and digital learning across the school.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science is required.
• Licensed by NCDPI as a school library media coordinator (076).
• Knowledge of K-12 curriculum including North Carolina Essential Standards and AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner.
• Knowledge of library media terminology and appropriate uses of media and technology to enhance instruction and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Align teaching with the NC Standard Course of Study and the NC Information and Technology Skills.
• Models, coaches and collaborates with teachers on inquiry, problem-based learning, digital citizenship and research process.
• Empowers students as reader/writers, creators and innovators in a collaborative learning environment.
• Plans and facilitates professional development in literacy, digital learning and resource access.
• Organizes the media center and resources to maximize access to materials.
