Job summary

Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL is seeking a lead School Lunchroom Assistant to supervise and assist in food preparation, service and cleanup across multiple stations. The role includes training staff, maintaining standards, and coordinating with the School Food Service Manager to ensure timely, friendly service to students and staff.

You will oversee daily operations, ensure safety and sanitation, and help manage inventory and reporting as directed by the manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus five years of progressively knowledgeable and skilled school food service or hospitality experience.
• Florida State certified food service training is highly preferred; ServSafe Certification within 60 days of obtaining the position.
• Incumbent will be required to pass IPCS and coursework within six months to maintain lead position.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous manner representing OCPS.
• Assigns, reviews, plans and coordinates at the direction of the School Food Service Manager.
• Trains new and current employees and may explain work procedures as needed.
• Maintains compliance with uniform and grooming standards.
• Monitors break and lunch coverage to provide consistent staffing.
• Performs food preparation, service and cleanup in multiple functional areas as needed.
• Operates industrial food preparation equipment safely and efficiently.
• Participates in health and safety training and adheres to policies and MSDS requirements.
