Job summary

OCC seeks a Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation for a large client group in accordance with planned menus and USDA guidelines. Responsibilities include assisting with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, maintaining records, and ensuring a clean, compliant kitchen.

The role involves coordinating with Kitchen Manager and Residential Director, participating in quality improvement, and teaching youth cooking skills as appropriate. A high school diploma and clean background are required.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent with demonstrated ability to cook for a large group.
• Pass a drug screen and maintain a current TB card.
• Must have a valid Arkansas driver's license and be insurable under OCC's vehicle policy.
• Must receive child maltreatment clearance from Arkansas authorities.
• Must receive adult maltreatment clearance from Arkansas authorities.
• Must pass Arkansas State Police background checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation in accordance with planned menus and USDA guidelines.
• Assist with evening meals, lunches and snacks for clients as needed.
• Prepare shopping lists, obtain approvals for purchases and shop accordingly.
• Complete production records and maintain labels per National School Lunch Program.
• Keep kitchen clean and sanitary and maintain health codes.
• Teach youth cooking and kitchen skills when appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with Kitchen Manager and Residential Director.
• Participate in agency performance quality improvement.
• Other duties as assigned
