Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for Cimarron Middle School to assist in daily lunch program preparation and service. The role emphasizes food safety, portion control, and community relations with students, staff, and parents.

You will follow menus, operate the POS system, and ensure accurate cash handling while maintaining HACCP standards. This is a part-time, 0.50 FTE position with 20 hours per week across 172 days per year.

Qualifications

• Follow menus/recipes; ensure proper temperatures, appearance, and portion sizes.
• Assist unloading and storage of delivered food items.
• Operate POS system and reconcile monies daily.
• Build positive relationships with nutrition staff, school staff, students, and parents.
• Communicate effectively; maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Complete USDA trainings; stay updated on regulations; may lead training.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate POS system; reconcile monies daily.
